There is a new trend in the home design and remodeling industry towards more eco awareness, or green standards; unfortunately this can leave the average homeowner feeling lost when trying to find ways to economically do their part to save the environment.

Fear not however, the answer is here with compact fluorescent light bulbs. These little guys, CFL’s for short, are a literal power house of lighting intensity, with the benefit of using a fraction of the power needed by standard incandescent light bulbs.

Compact fluorescent lights have gotten a bit of a bad wrap in the past due to the fact that fluorescent lights are not known for producing the most attractive spectrum of light. Thankfully this is no more. Todays compact fluorescent lights are not only amazingly efficient, they are also able to faithfully reproduce a spectrum range much closer to incandescent bulbs. In fact designers are no longer leery of using compact fluorescent lights in their new home designs.
Compact fluorescent lights are not only energy efficient, they also last quite a bit longer then traditional bulbs. Meaning that, while you will pay a little more upfront for them, they pay for them selves over time in lowered energy costs, as well as the savings gained from not having to buy bulbs as often.
All in all compact fluorescent lights are the current “wave of the future”, and this is one wave that any homeowner should be happy to ride.
