A huge mistake that a lot of people make is not eating enough green leafy vegetables in their diet.
I remember when I was young and my mom gave us salad every night with dinner, which was great for my health, but I got so sick of the same old salads night after night that I ended up not eating it for years.
Try to keep it interesting so that your whole family can enjoy this vital ingredient. There are dozens and dozens of types of salad dressings from the classic vinaigrette to creamy dressings and even yogurt based ones. There is no reason you cannot have several different kinds on hand so that each night the family can choose for themselves.
One of my favorite meals is healthy and delicious and most importantly easy and fast to make. It’s a simple and yummy chicken and tortellini salad.
Here is the basic full meal salad recipe, more an idea really because you can have as much of the ingredients as you prefer:
- Regular green leafy or romaine lettuce
- Rainbow Tortillini
- Chicken, you can cut it up in chunks and cook it on the stove or slice chicken breast as thick or thin as you like
- Toasted slivered almonds
- You can cut up some mozzarella cheese if you like but I usually don’t bother.
- Ranch dressing
I usually cook the pasta early in the day and refrigerate it until dinnertime. It’s delicious cold, it’s like a pasta salad with lettuce or visa versa.
By simply incorporating more leafy greens and whole fruits into your overall diet you are going to slash type 2 diabetes risk drastically.

Normally I don’t care for diet food, but some of the suggestions here sound like something I would be in to eating. I just started back to the gym after about a 2 month lay off, so getting some of these tips will be right in line with my new agenda. Thanks for the great info!
Great tips for health. We have been trying to implement these tips for some time now. On the grow your own side it can be difficult to get the balance right, especially if your hard work is eaten by insects, but if you do manage to succeed, then all the hard work is worth all the effort. You will feel fitter if you leave the car at home, walk or cycle instead.
i completely agree with the fact that many people do not care about eating green vegetables and just run behind the taste and make their health as a issue of concern. so i advise to all that keep eating green vegetables .

I personally enjoy Vegetables because I believe they taste a lot nicer. There is also the potential health benefits or not consuming harmful pesticides.I also agree that anything that is grown in the most natural way possible will be most nutritious and healthy.I had heard tales of people still using potential harmful pesticides and still getting away with it under the organic banner which I hope is a rare case.

i am totally agree with you however, the single easiest way to keep you health good should take good diet full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber.
These ideas all fall under eating less and exercising more. Snacking, eating late at night, eating kids leftovers, etc. The fact is, eat less calories, and burn more, and you will lose weight. This is coming from someone who is over 35 and did just that and dropped 40 pounds in six months

Ingredients:
2 red delicious apples
1 sliced banana
1 Granny Smith apple
2 bartlett pears
1/2 pound red grapes
1/2 cup almond slivers, toasted
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon apple cider
Directions:
1. Wash and core apples and pears, peeling if desired. Cut into one inch chunks.
2. Slice banana into 1/2″ thick slices. Wash grapes and cut in half.
3. Combine fruits and almonds in salad bowl.
4. Mix yogurt with spices and cider. Pour over fruit salad and stir to coat fruits evenly. Chill.
