Here are some easy water saving tips you can incorporate into your daily kitchen routines:

TIP ONE:
Having a good quality high efficiency dishwasher is a fantastic way to start. These will reduce the amount of water you use drastically.

TIP TWO:
Even if you already have a high efficiency dishwater you still need to wait until it’s full before you run it. Turning it on with only a half load is a big waste of water. Setting it to a short cycle wash is also an easy way to save water.

TIP THREE:
When you ware washing fruits and vegetables instead of running the tap, try filling the sink halfway and wash them in that. A big bowl would be good too. This is going to save at least 5 liters of water each time you wash your produce.

TIP FOUR:
We all love a tall cool glass of water right? What you can do is fill a pitcher up and put it into the fridge. This will keep the water nice and cold. This is the perfect alternative to running the tap until the water gets cold. Running it wastes liters and liters of water each time.

  1. You know, the thing that bothers us the most is what’s already in the water.

The current water purification legislation we have only tests for 90 different pollutants whereas there are over 60,000 chemicals that can be found in the public drinking water if one looks at water from coast to coast in America.

A study was done recently of water in 25 US urban areas.

Not only were there the usual pollutants outside of the control group, but there were over 50 types of pharmaceutical byproducts found in the tap water.

Most bottled water was no better. Even worse in some places because, unlike for tap water, most bottled water is not tested for asbestos or e. coli.

The only process that seems to eliminate the impurities in water is reverse osmosis.

That’s the process that Pepsi and Coke put their beverage water through before adding the secret ingredients.

They use ordinary tap water, but put it through the reverse osmosis process. Result: water much cleaner than anything one gets from most bottle waters, and worlds better than tap water even going through a home filtration unit.

The problem with reverse osmosis is that it is the most environmentally unfriendly of all the processes (naturally). Reverse osmosis produces two gallons of waste water for every one gallon of clean water it produces.

So, we have a choice. Live with very dirty water from the tap and bottled. Or use bottled water that has been processed using reverse osmosis.

Dirty up our bodies or dirty up the environment.

You can see the results of many of these tests at EWG.org.

People who are using home filtration units do help the water a bit, but these units leave almost all the pharmaceutical byproducts and a ton of other really scary stuff after eliminating some of the obvious pollutants.

We would like to see you address this problem in a future article.

  2. Thanks for the useful tips.

  3. We had been reading something else regarding this on an additional blog. Interesting. Your own linear perspective on this is diametrically opposed to what I examine originally. I’m still contemplating over the actual reverse points of look at, however I am tipped an excellent extent toward your own own. And no matter, that’s what is therefore extremely regarding modernized democracy and the industry associated with ideas online.
