You don't really have to be a tree hugger to understand the benefits of lowering your energy use. Think of the time you will save if you plan you automobile trips so that you get all your errands done in one trip. Think of what you will save if you don't need to run to the store as often. Don't just use more efficient appliances, use the appliances more efficiently. Do you really need to wash in warm or hot water? Can you do you drying loads back to back to take advantage of the dryer already being warmed up. Do you really need to wash some of your stuff as often as you do.
